The Gateway Tower, with its dynamic form based architecture sets the tone for the pioneering DLF development in the Gurgaon precinct. It literally functions as a gateway to the DLF Cyber City, standing tall in the corner junction of National Highway and the Sector road; its curvilinear facade captures the eye as one turns into the township from the highway. This 14-storey building seeks to create an aesthetic based on tectonics. The building is sheathed with granite and glass in which the granite dominates the lower levels and the higher levels are totally wrapped in glass. The stone at the lower level responds to the tactile and the glass augments the visual quality for a spectator.
Vertically striated stone surfaces enable the curving glass walls, which are horizontally composed, to visually emerge rather than collide. Rising from the heavier granite base in a ziggurat pattern and the reflective green glass facade, the building culminates in a spire. This acts as a focus in the severe formal composition enhancing the ability of the building to announce itself to the onlooker. Though the structure is lozenge shaped, the usable floor space is rectangular as the triangular shaped ends are used for services. The building sits diagonally on a 1.15 acre landscaped site with an ornamental water feature. The oval shaped layout houses the office spaces in the central core of the building. It includes the lifts, toilets, staircases and other services in the curved edges of the structure. The double height lobby leads to the lift and service cores providing access to the upper floors.
