Bayer House | Mumbai

Bayer House is one of the first corporate office buildings in the Hiranandani Office Park. It is strategically located at the Rotary of Hiranandani Gardens and with its imposing form, it is a landmark building in the township. Rising on a triangular base with a mosaic covered dome, the structure is evocative of edifices in areas of old Mumbai.

Its central atrium is covered with double polycarbonate sheets. Owing to the sky lit atrium, the indoor spaces require minimal day lighting compared to other conventional buildings. The building's pleasing ambiance and natural lighting is perceptibly conducive to a better work productivity. The colour white is predominant in the interiors, accented by shades of cream and blue. Looking down from the upper floors, one sees a large winged lion mosaic pattern, the symbol of Bayer, made of coloured glass mosaic in shades of blue, peach and brown. While the dome and columns symbolise power, the interior design imposes office hierarchy more subtly through colour and decor. The design layout does not isolate one floor from the other, imparting spaciousness and creating a sense of unified space. The interior concept is such that the space encourages interaction.

The 6th floor, which houses the managing director's office, the boardroom and the executive offices, is a blend of international styles and ethnic Indian features. Being a German firm, the furniture subscribes to international design and style. Antique columns from Ahmedabad, Tanjore miniatures, and works of art articulate the Indian facet.

The interiors stand testimony to the Indo- German collaboration, with high-tech office communication systems, open style workstations, brass railings, etched glass walls, antique wood carvings from Gujarat, an idol of Lord Ganesh, and metal screens.
